Six Sentence Story: Green Coat

He tore my green, soft, favorite coat, the one I wore so much.

I felt I was not the one he wanted me to be, not anymore.

All good things must come to an end, or should it be just the bad?

Clutching my torn coat and shutting the door in front of him, tears shed from my burning eyes.
I said goodbye.

It is his loss, not mine.

  1. I get this. I have things like that. They become part of me and if they are more so than the persons around me, then the persons aren't part of me. This is good, deep, and thought provoking in a very short spurt of words. Good one.

  2. "All good things must come to an end, or should it be just the bad?"

When it comes to people and relationships, once the line is crossed where respect for the other person has been lost, all is lost.
The most difficult moment sometimes is the final decision to close that door, literal or figurative and try and remember those famous words from Hamlet - "to thine own self be true".

  4. Tons of things to think about in a short six. Maybe the truth is that all things - good or bad - do come to an end and that is simply the cycle of life. Maybe our judgment of such events and endings as "good" or "bad" is more about our feelings and perspective than anything objective. Lots to consider here.
